According to highly placed & very reliable sources, the upheaval in FordKenya has nothing to do with the alleged inability by Wetangula to strengthen the party but it has everything to do with the need to dissolve the NASA arrangement where the ODM leader was only to contest in 2017 (his risasi moja ya mwisho).
The ODM leader, Hon. Raila having dissolved CORD so as to do away with the promise to back Kalonzo in 2017, is now keen to have NASA disintegrate so that he is free to contest the 2022 elections without any pressure from Kalonzo.
However he is also alive to the reality that both Wetangula & Mudavadi will no longer be willing to play third fiddle behind Kalonzo. This has thus made it necessary to have Atwoli prop up replacements in the name of Luhya community spokespersons.
The Wamunyinyi & Eseli faction thus has only one assignment - that is to secure FordKenya and hand it over to one of the recently named community spokespersons in the name of Hon Eugene Wamalwa.
Once Eugene Wamalwa takes over as FordKenya Party leader, his role will be simple - to say Raila Tosha and enter into a new coalition with "Baba"to replace NASA, the same way NASA replaced CORD. In essence he will be ready to play third or even fourth fiddle behind Raila, Gideon & Kalonzo and inturn retain his CS slot.
Atwoli is thus a major player in the scheme to ensure that the said Luhya unity is one that unites in a FordKenya that is eager to ink a deal with the ODM.
